Prerequisites:
For GTECH 362: GTECH 260/361 and STAT 113.
For GTECH 732: GEOG 701, 702 and permission of instructor.
Additional prerequisite: Computer Literacy in the Geosciences (formerly GTECH
102) or equivalent and Mapping Sciences.
Course
Descriptions:
This course will provide an introduction to the principles of geographic
information systems (GIS) including an overview of data structures, data types,
methods of data analysis, and cartographic modeling. It will also compare the
relative merits of different types of GIS software packages. The primary
software used will be ArcView. There will be no incompletes given in this
course. Grades will be assigned based on the work that is completed.
